Colorado
Professional Development Program |
|
The Colorado CLTW professional development
program is a year-long experience for grades 6-9 mathematics
educators and grades 6-12 science educators. The participants
are recruited from rural and urban districts. Science and
mathematics educators in each cohort take three graduate
level courses, three credits each that include in-person
sessions and online work. Courses one and three involve
a one week summer institute. |
Participants learn science or
mathematics content such as Earth science or statistics
and probability. Inquiry is also a major emphas is. A different
content area is selected for each cohort. Other important
components of the courses are use of a variety of instructional
strategies, classroom assessment, and use of technology.
Participants develop a webpage. Laptops are loaned to participants
as needed. Equity and leadership issues are woven throughout
the program. |
The Colorado Lead Professional
Development Team is composed of Colorado State University
and University of Northern Colorado faculty, master teachers
from school districts, and doctoral and postdoctoral fellows.
Fellows play an important role in planning and implementing
the Colorado program. |
